The Founder

USANA Health Sciences Founder and Chairman Dr. Myron Wentz Ph.D is an internationally  recognized Microbiologist, Immunologist and Pioneer in Infectious Disease Diagnosis. He  launched USANA Health Sciences with a vision of a “world free from pain and suffering.” In 1994, Dr.  Wentz the same about nutrition as he does today, the single most effective thing people can do to maintain  optimal health is to receive proper, cellular nutrition. It was with this belief that he founded USANA  Health Sciences. Also Recipient of the Albert Einstein Award in the Life Sciences, 2007.

The first company I founded, Gull Laboratories, was successful in growing billions of cells for the purpose  of diagnosing viral diseases. It set the “Gold Standard” for detecting such diseases, and was trusted by  doctors and hospitals around the world. Our diagnostic assays, however, did little to help people maintain  health.

A Vision of True Health

That’s why I turned my attention to human nutrition. It was clear to me that the nutritional needs of the  human body’ were not being met in today’s society and that the quality and effectiveness of the available  supplements were quite inadequate. I founded the company USANA Health Sciences to provide the  highest quality nutritional supplements possible.

I used my background in microbiology and immunology, my experience in cell culture at Gull, as well as t  he latest clinical research in human nutrition to design USANAs first product — the Essentials’ vitamin,  mineral and antioxidant supplements.

Today, USANA continues to be on the cutting edge of nutritional research and supplement manufacturing. I have assembled a team of world-class scientists who share my vision of true health. USANA also collaborates with other prominent institutions to advance the world’s understanding of the effects of nutrition on health.

In-house Manufacturing

I learned long ago that great science can be destroyed by poor manufacturing. That is why USANA is one of the few US nutritional companies to manufacture and test its own products. And I have demanded that USANA quality systems be modeled after pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) — standards that are generally higher than nutritional product manufacturers are required to meet.
